Favourite books

These are a few of my all-time favourite books! As you can see, I’m a huge fan of general fiction. My greatest enjoyment of reading is for escapism. I love to get lost in imagination, adventure, mystery, and sentiment.

My favourite authors as a young kid were by Dr Seuss, Roald Dahl, Margaret Mahy, and Enid Blyton. As I grew older I went through phases of Choose Your Own Adventure, The Famous Five, Paul Jennings, Maurice Gee, and The Three Investigators. Later, after a period of reading solely high school horror, I discovered Agatha Christie and Stephen King. As an adult, I broadened my range again but the authors I grew up reading will always hold special memories.

Here is a collection of my favourite books. This is by no means an exhaustive list!

The Heart’s Invisible Furies by John Boyne

Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronté

The Witches by Roald Dahl

Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie

Catch 22 by Joseph Heller

Under the Mountain by Maurice Gee

Complete Tales and Poems of Edgar Allan Poe

Pounamu Pounamu by Witi Ihimaera

Needful Things by Stephen King

The Clan of the Cave Bear by Jean M. Auel
